Instituto Cultural Vale Auditorium | Talks: 75 years of MAM - Stories of a Museum

Pablo Lafuente is the Artistic Director of MAM Rio. He is a curator, writer, researcher, and educator. He holds a Master’s degree in Journalism (LCP, University of the Arts London, United Kingdom) and a Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy (Universidad Complutense de Madrid, Spain). He was the curator of the Office for Contemporary Art Norway in Oslo, Norway, from 2008 to 2013; Co-curator of the Norwegian Pavilion at the Venice Biennale in Italy in 2011 and 2013; Co-curator of the 31st São Paulo Biennial in 2014. He coordinated the CCBB Educativo Program at CCBB Rio de Janeiro from 2018 to 2020.


Denise Mattar was the curator of the Museu da Casa Brasileira in São Paulo from 1985 to 1987, the Museu de Arte Moderna de São Paulo from 1987 to 1989, and the Museu de Arte Moderna do Rio de Janeiro from 1990 to 1997. As an independent curator, she has organized retrospective exhibitions of artists such as Di Cavalcanti, Flávio de Carvalho (APCA Prize), Ismael Nery (APCA and ABCA Prizes), Pancetti, Anita Malfatti, Samson Flexor (APCA Prize), Portinari, Alfredo Volpi, Guignard, and Yutaka Toyota (APCA Prize).


Vicente de Mello is a photographer and curator. Since 1992, his photographic research has focused on creating a playful cosmos, exploring the boundary between the historical tradition of reflection on the medium and a stylistic visual lexicon that subverts meanings through a transvision of photographic language codes. Notable series include “Imaginary Topography” (1994-1997), “Teluric Reds” (2001-2019), “Galactic” (2000-2019), “Lapidus” (2013-2018), “Silent City” (2013), and “Brasília Lyrical Utopia” (2014), among others.
